Brawl Stars

Brawl Stars runs on a simple promise: drop into a small arena, fight, and it’s over in under three minutes. The problem is everything wrapped around that promise, the download, the account, the Star Drops. So we stripped it down to the part people actually love. Nova Skirmish is our own arena brawler inspired by that loop, and it runs right here in your browser. No install, no account, no ads.

How to play

You control Nova, a small spark creature dropped into a walled arena. On a phone, the left joystick moves you and the right joystick aims and fires, hold it in a direction and Nova keeps shooting that way. On a keyboard, move with WASD or the arrow keys and aim with the mouse, holding the left button (or the space bar) to fire toward your cursor or your last direction of movement.

Waves of Wisps close in from the arena’s edge, chasers that lunge in for contact damage and shooters that keep their distance and lob bolts back at you. Defeating one drops a shard worth bonus points if you walk over it. You have 90 seconds and one health bar. Run out of either and the round ends. Your best score and daily streak are saved on your device only. Nothing leaves your browser.

How it compares to Brawl Stars

Nova Skirmish keeps the part of Brawl Stars we missed most: a small arena, a ranged attack you aim yourself, and enemies closing in from every side while a clock runs down. The dual-stick feel, one thumb for movement and one for aim, is lifted straight from that core loop, and rounds are short on purpose so losing costs you nothing but a tap to try again.

It drops everything else deliberately. There is no brawler roster to unlock, no Star Drops, no Hypercharges, no ranked ladder, and absolutely no other players, this is a solo skirmish against AI, not multiplayer. Those systems are what make Brawl Stars worth hundreds of hours; a single-file browser game was never going to replace them, and it isn’t trying to.

Use Nova Skirmish the way we built it: as a two-minute break between real matches, a way to test the aiming feel on a device that can’t run the full game, or a reason to see whether arena combat clicks for you before installing anything.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play Brawl Stars in a browser?

Not officially. Supercell doesn’t ship a browser version, and it isn’t available on cloud gaming services either. Nova Skirmish is our own lightweight game built around the same arena-combat loop, so you get a taste of the aiming and positioning with zero setup.

Is this the real Brawl Stars?

No. Nova Skirmish is an original game we made, inspired by the core mechanics of top-down arena brawlers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Supercell or Brawl Stars in any way. For the real 3v3 experience with dozens of unlockable characters, install the official game from the download links above.

Does Nova Skirmish work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the game makes no network requests at all. Your best score, daily streak, and mute setting are stored on your device with localStorage, so they survive a reload and never get sent anywhere.

Is it free? Are there ads or in-app purchases?

Completely free. No ads, no purchases, no account, no tracking. It’s a single small file that runs in your browser, and it loads faster than most app icons.

How long is one round?

90 seconds, or less if your health bar hits zero first. Score comes from eliminations and the shards enemies drop. Losing costs nothing except the itch to press play again.
