Extreme Car Driving Simulator promotional artwork showing a sports car drifting on an open road

Extreme Car Driving Simulator has spent years near the top of the driving charts because it gets one thing right: an open stretch of road, a car that actually slides, and nothing between you and the next drift. AIM’s simulator is the reason “car driving simulator online” is such a heavily searched phrase. We wanted that same free-roam itch without installing anything, so we built Driftwave, an original drifting game in the same spirit that runs right here on this page. Free, no download, no signup. It starts the moment you tap Play.

Play Driftwave now

Tap “Tap to play” to start. Hold GAS and steer through the amber gates, and hold DRIFT while turning for bonus points.

How to play

On a keyboard, W or the up arrow is gas, S or down is brake and reverse, A/D or the arrow keys steer, and holding Space or Shift kicks the rear end out for a drift. On touch screens, use the on-screen GAS, BRAKE, and DRIFT buttons alongside the steering arrows. Tap View any time to switch between the chase camera and a first-person view from the hood.

The goal is simple: chain the amber gates around today’s route before the clock hits zero. Every gate you clear adds seconds back to the timer and points to your score, and holding a clean drift through a turn banks a separate drift bonus. Ramps scattered around the loop give a speed boost if you catch them, and clipping a traffic cone costs you time and speed, so it pays to leave room. Your best score for today’s route, plus your all-time best, is saved on your device. Nothing leaves your browser.

How it compares to Extreme Car Driving Simulator

Driftwave keeps the part of Extreme Car Driving Simulator that made it popular in the first place: an open road you can free-roam, a car that slides convincingly when you push it, and drifting that is genuinely fun to chase for its own sake. The chase camera, the ramps, the checkpoint-style gates, and the instant restart are all here, and a run lasts roughly the same one to two minutes the original’s short sessions tend to run.

We deliberately left a lot out. The real app has a large garage of cars and trucks to unlock, a tuning system for engine, tires, and body kits, multiple detailed maps, and a proper physics engine tuned over years of updates, plus optional multiplayer lots where players show off their rides together. Driftwave has one car, one procedurally generated loop that changes daily, and a scoreboard that only tracks bragging rights. There is no garage, no currency, and no way to change how the car handles.

So when should you get the real thing? If you find yourself replaying today’s route more than once just to shave a few seconds off your time, that appetite for drifting is exactly what the full app is built to satisfy at a much deeper level. AIM’s simulator plays fully offline, has years of content on top of the loop you just sampled, and lets you actually customize the car you’re driving. Our version is the taste. The full simulator is the meal.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play Extreme Car Driving Simulator in a browser?

AIM ships Extreme Car Driving Simulator as a mobile app, not a standalone browser game. The game on this page, Driftwave, is our own original drifting game built around a similar free-roam loop, and it runs in any modern browser on phone or desktop. For the complete Extreme Car Driving Simulator experience, including its full garage and maps, you need the Android app.

Is this the real Extreme Car Driving Simulator?

No. Driftwave is an original game we built, inspired by the open-road drifting that made Extreme Car Driving Simulator popular. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to AIM in any way. All art, sound, and code in our version are original work, and the download links above point to the official app.

Is it free?

Completely. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts, and no data collection. Your best score for today’s route and your all-time best are stored in your browser’s local storage and never sent anywhere.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, the game makes no further network requests, so a dropped connection will not interrupt a run. For a proper offline driving game, install Extreme Car Driving Simulator itself, which plays fully offline after install.

Why is the route the same every run today?

Today’s route is generated from the current date, so everyone in the world drives the same loop, ramps, and gate layout on the same day. That makes scores directly comparable: if a friend reports a run of 400 points today, you were driving the same road. A new route arrives with tomorrow’s date, so there is always a fresh layout to learn.
